Quality Accreditation
To enhance the prestige of Chambers within the business community, expand the range of services offered, improve service quality, and align the Turkish Chamber System with the European Chamber System, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) established the Accreditation System.
This system was first introduced in 2001 under the Turkish Chamber/Exchange Development Project (TOGP I), in cooperation with EUROCHAMBRES and the British Chambers of Commerce, taking into account best practices from the Chamber systems of the United Kingdom and Germany. Through this quality system, a clear and effective roadmap was created to improve the overall performance and organizational quality of Turkish Chambers and Exchanges.
Initially supported by the British Chambers of Commerce until 2005, the Chamber Accreditation System was expanded in 2008 to include the Commodity Exchanges, becoming the Chamber/Exchange Accreditation System. Designed to help Chambers and Exchanges provide their members with “Five-Star Service”, the Accreditation System plays a leading role in helping these institutions build strong brands at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
What Is an Accredited Chamber or Exchange?
Chambers or Exchanges participating in the Accreditation Process are evaluated by independent auditing institutions according to approximately 200 criteria grouped under the following areas:
Governance and Chamber/Exchange Legislation
Financial Management
Human Resources Management
Business Planning and Management
Communication and Publications
Information and Communication Technologies
Member Relations
Quality Management
Networking
Policy and Representation
Information, Consultancy, and Support Services
Business Development and Training
International Trade
Commodity Exchange Activities
Accredited Chambers and Exchanges are re-evaluated every three years to ensure sustainable, high-quality service delivery. Based on their performance scores, Chambers achieving 5-, 6-, or 7-star status are officially accredited following audits conducted by TOBB and Türk Loydu.
BODTO’s Accreditation Achievements
The Bodrum Chamber of Commerce (BODTO) was audited by the British Chambers of Commerce and is recognized as one of the Chambers whose services served as a reference model during the development of the Accreditation System.
Beginning its Accreditation Journey in 2007 during the 4th term, BODTO became the first accredited Chamber in Muğla Province, the third in the Aegean Region, and the 41st in Türkiye. In 2013, BODTO was among 25 Chambers nationwide to achieve “A Category” Accreditation.
BODTO also holds several pioneering distinctions: it was the first Chamber in Muğla to receive the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management Certificate (2006) and later the ISO 9001:2008 Certificate (2009). In May 2007, meeting all the requirements of the TOBB Accreditation System, it earned the prestigious title of “Accredited Chamber.”
In 2013, in compliance with the updated standard requirements, BODTO renewed its “A Category” status. The Chamber successfully completed its third accreditation renewal audit in December 2016, once again earning the distinction of an “A-Class Accredited Chamber.”
Following the 2019 accreditation evaluations, the Bodrum Chamber of Commerce was ranked first among accredited Chambers of Commerce in Türkiye, receiving the highest score nationwide.
Continuing to maintain its certifications successfully, BODTO remains committed to contributing to the planning and sustainable development of Bodrum’s commercial and socio-economic life.
