The Republic of Türkiye Bodrum Chamber of Commerce (BODTO) is a non-profit professional organization established under Law No. 5174, with the status of a public legal entity.

According to Article 12 of Law No. 5174, the duties and services of the Chambers are as follows:

a) To protect and develop professional ethics, discipline, and solidarity, and to promote the growth of commerce and industry in line with the public interest.

b) To collect and distribute information and news related to trade and industry; to provide information requested by official authorities; to supply members with the data and resources they need to conduct their professions effectively; and to guide them in the fields of e-commerce and digital networks by establishing and managing the necessary infrastructure.

c) To conduct studies on trade and industry, maintain statistics and indices of economic, commercial, and industrial activities within its region, and monitor and publish market prices of key products.

d) To issue and approve the documents specified in Article 26 of the Law.

e) To make proposals and applications to official authorities on matters concerning professional activities, and when necessary, to initiate legal action in the interest of its members.

f) To identify and declare commercial customs, practices, and traditions within its jurisdiction, subject to Ministry approval.

g) To issue professional resolutions binding on its members.

h) To participate in domestic and international fairs and exhibitions.

ı) To determine and approve maximum price tariffs for goods and services within the scope of the related regulations.

j–p) To perform a wide range of duties related to maritime trade, including promoting national and international shipping, gathering and publishing freight rates and port fees, preparing standard contracts, providing information to foreign shipping companies, and representing Türkiye in international maritime organizations.

r) To carry out other duties assigned by relevant legislation, the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), and the Ministry.

s) To maintain accurate member records and membership fee documentation in line with TOBB standards.

t) To execute delegated public tasks in accordance with its mission and legal authority.

u) To provide members with requested documents and related services.

v) To evaluate domestic fair applications and submit proposals to the Union.

y) To review consumer complaints concerning its members and take actions consistent with its founding objectives.

z) To issue capacity reports for industrial enterprises where applicable.

Additional Duties of the Chamber

Within the framework of relevant laws, the Chamber may also:

a) Establish or participate in laboratories for testing, calibration, and certification services.

b) With the permission and supervision of the Ministry of National Education, open or support vocational courses related to trade, maritime, and industry; provide scholarships; and promote vocational and technical education.

c) Serve as an arbitrator in commercial and industrial disputes when requested.

d) Participate in fairs, exhibitions, warehouses, museums, and libraries.

e) Establish or operate industrial zones, technology development areas, technoparks, trade and congress centers, or act as a free zone operator under relevant legislation.
